A wool press designed as well as built in Mosgiel has been launched in the market. It is the first no-tramp wool press that has come up in New Zealand after several years. Shearing Services will be selling the machines and P&W Engineering will be manufacturing them.
The 60 percent hike in wool prices in the current season has once again diverted the focus on wool and wool growers as well as wool contractors are replacing their shearing machines. There has been a shortage of a wide variety of machines in New Zealand particularly after the receivership of a wool press producer from Australia around three years ago.
There has been a gap of around two to three years when no new wool press has come up in the market. The launching of Micron wool press designed as well as built in Mosgiel and the effective Magnum wool press at this time in the New Zealand market is a timely gesture. This will provide an opportunity to the wool contractors to install the new equipment.
Both the Micron and Magnum wool presses are of better quality with larger and stronger rams, joints and pumps. The machines are more efficient and their yield is also higher. The wool presses have been designed in such a fashion that they can be easily transported into the sheds and plugged in to begin their operations with nominal set of connections.
The designers have used high-quality specifications which have been provided by domestic as well as foreign suppliers. Further, the suppliers have also promised to provide the machine parts immediately whenever required. As far as their prices are concerned, they will be comparable with other machines available in the market.
