COMEZ to present three models at ITMA ASIA + CITME

April 24, 2008 (Italy)
COMEZ is a global leader in advanced narrow fabric technology, offering a complete range of crochet knitting machines, weaving needle looms, double needle bed warp knitting machines and software for pattern programming - used to produce a broad range of laces and bands for underwear, ribbons for clothing, technical textiles, passementerie, fancy yarns and fabrics for outerwear.

From the extensive line of crochet machines, that well highlight the excellence of COMEZ technology, at the ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008 trade fair 3 models will be presented, featuring the application of newly engineered solutions aimed at maximizing production efficiency and flexibility.

COMEZTRONIC CT-16B/600 is an electronic crochet knitting machine with 16 weft pattern bars, designed for the production of an extensive range of high-quality and very complex laces, bra-straps and flounces, both elastic and non-elastic.

The electronic drive is applied not only to the weft bars, but to all the feeders (weft, warp, elastic yarns) and the finished product take-down, thus allowing for the possibility of different stitch density values (stitches/cm) on a single product, as well as different values for weft/warp feeding and elasticity.

Continued testing and research have resulted in the elimination of problematic vibrations of the bars, which now perform only a transversal, and no longer a vertical movement.

These engineering and design changes make it possible to work easily with as many as 16 weft bars. A high number of bars and electronic operating system allow for elaborate patterns to be created, with very long pattern repeats.

Indian Technical Textiles market to grow four times by 2020

April 21, 2008 (India)

“Indian Technical Textiles market is set to grow by more than 4 times to $37bn in the next 12 years i.e. by 2020”, estimates FICCI – Technopak Report on ‘Indian Technical Textiles Industry: Stimulating Demand and Promoting Development’.

The report pointed out that the growth of Indian market for technical textiles, currently at $ 8.3 billion and growing at a healthy pace of 11.25%, is hindered by lack of product standards; R&D facilities and innovative technologies; inadequate regulatory measures in various application areas for ensuring use of technical textiles at par with developed countries; lack of economies of scale; inadequate testing facilities and skilled work force.

These deficiencies that are holding down the growth of different sectors of technical textiles have been spotlighted by a FICCI-Technopak Report prepared for the FICCI Conference of Indian Technical Textiles Industry to be held in the capital on April 22, 2008.

The conference will be inaugurated by Mr Shankersinh Vaghela, Union Minister of Textiles and addressed, amongst others, by Mr V Govindarajan, Member-Secretary, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC); Mr A K Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles and Dr C S Gokhale, Chairman, FICCI Taskforce on Technical Textiles.

Leading industry professionals and senior government officials dealing with technical textiles will deliberate on issues confronting the industry at the day-long conference.

160 Italian exhibitors to be on hand at ITMA ASIA + CITME

April 19, 2008 (China)

With just a few months to go before the next ITMA ASIA + CITME, to be held in Shanghai from July 27 to July 31, 2008, it appears Italy’s textile machinery manufacturers will be among the most numerous and well represented, testifying the Country’s leadership position among textile technology suppliers.

160 Italian exhibitors will be on hand at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008, occupying an overall exhibition area of some 7200 sq. meters; 76 Italian manufacturers will be presenting their products within the Italian Clusters area, organized by ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and Italian Institute for Foreign Trade.

The three Italian Clusters will be located in the spinning pavilion (W2), weaving pavilion (E6) and finishing machinery pavilion (E1). Overall, Italian Clusters will be occupying an area of around 2200 sq. mts.

ACIMIT’s president, Paolo Banfi, declares himself optimistic with respect to the Chinese trade exhibit. “ITMA ASIA + CITME is a merger of two very successful trade fairs, ITMA ASIA and CITME, both well established by now with the Asian public. China, of course, is the world’s largest market for textile machinery: Chinese imports in 2007 exceeded 9 billion US$. This is yet another plus for the success of ITMA ASIA + CITME.”

The number of Italian exhibitors and the surface area they will occupy are by far greater than for the ITMA ASIA 2005 edition. “The response of our manufacturers to the change in location could not be more positive” continues Banfi.

USTER® TESTER 5 by Uster - Product Focus

The importance of quality control in yarn manufacturing is magnified when the end-use is a high-cost product such as the currently-popular denim jeans with slub yarns. For these latest-fashion garments, the yarns must appear irregular, yet retain precise and consistent control over quality - which means fewer complaints and ultimately more profit.

USTER® - the world-leading supplier of total quality solutions from fiber to fabric - has tackled this requirement with the launch of a novel system which analyses slub yarn quality. The new USTER® Fancy Yarn Profile for the renowned USTER® TESTER 5 uses a unique measuring method which makes it easier than ever before to obtain all the quality-relevant information for slub yarns, while maintaining the high standards of precision and reliability for which the USTER® TESTER family is acknowledged.

Brilliant testing - superior analysis

For years the USTER® TESTER has been synonymous with quality management in staple yarns, rovings and slivers. The new USTER® TESTER 5-S800 measures the most important quality parameters - such as evenness and yarn imperfections - with high precision at an unbelievable testing speed of 800 m/min. Doubling the previously-attainable test speed to 800 m/min also allows the sample throughput to be almost doubled as well. The customer can use this additional test capacity either to test all spinning positions more quickly, or to test the same number of samples with a longer test length, giving statistically more significant results. Even at this tremendous speed, the S800 enables reproducible measurements at all time.

FM Sensor - classification of foreign fibers

Foreign fibers are now one of the major problems in spinning mills. Here the USTER® TESTER 5-S800 writes a new chapter in measuring technology. The system detects and classifies foreign fibers in the same operation as all the other quality parameters. If cops contaminated with foreign fibers are tested in the laboratory, any foreign matter problem will show up within only few kilometers of yarn. With the FM Sensor, the USTER® TESTER 5-S800 offers the most comprehensive quality control there has ever been.

Unique sensor technology - gives the advantages

Factors such as hairiness, diameter variation, shape and density - as well as soiling caused by trash and dust - influence the quality of yarns in woven and knitted fabrics. In most cases, a single measurement technology alone is not sufficient to judge yarn quality. Only by combining a number of different sensor technologies can the full quality picture be assessed. Using both capacitive and optical sensors, the USTER® TESTER 5-S800 measures all the necessary criteria and offers an optimal analysis of both yarn quality and the spinning process. Yarn manufacturers and yarn finishers profit from the unique USTER® TESTER measurements, which are recognized as an international quality criterion.
