Groz-Beckert receives environmental honours at ShanghaiTex 2011

Nowadays, textile manufacturers are interested to know and purchase energy-saving and environmental-friendly products. At textile machinery exhibitions in 2010, Groz-Beckert's litespeed needle became one of the focused products after it received a prestigious award in Germany in last April (2010).

Groz-Beckert is one of the key exhibitors of ShanghaiTex 2011 which will be held during Jun 14 –17, 2011 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, PR China. It is expected that Groz-Beckert's award-winning product and its latest innovations hit the market right and will become one of the focuses in Shanghaitex 2011.

Groz-Beckert describes that the litespeed needle is synonymous with precision and innovation in the best sense. "For the circular knitting machine, this means up to 20% lower temperature, less energy consumption, reduced oil requirement, minimized oil fogging and enormous carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction," the company said.

Tests found that if all relevant machines worldwide were equipped with litespeed needles, it would result in an annual CO2 reduction of over 457 million tonnes, according to Groz-Beckert.

The company was awarded the KYOCERA Environment Prize in 2010, which is one of the highest-value competitions for environmental protection in Germany stressing innovation, market potential, environmental relief and also transferability to other companies.

CIRCOT & Fibre2fashion to host Business Development Programme on Cotton Technology

When Government research institution joins hand with private sector to start playing the role of incubator of entrepreneurial projects, then businesses are definitely bound to go places, benefiting all.

Zonal Technology Management and Business Planning & Development unit at Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Mumbai in association with Fiber2fashion is jointly organizing one day Business Development Programme for “ Cotton Technologies” on January 7, 2011 at Ahmedabad.

Filtration 2010 brings the world of filtration to Philadelphia

The world of filtration came to Philadelphia earlier this month as crowded aisles and standing-room-only conference sessions combined to make the Filtration 2010 International Conference and Exposition the largest and most important filtration industry event in the world.

With the business of filtration continuing to play a vital role in the personal and business applications around the globe, Filtration 2010 drew 1400 attendees to the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Penn., November 30-December 2.

Living up to its reputation as the largest filtration industry event in the world, Filtration 2010 featured 129 total exhibitors. A total of 28 exhibitors were from outside of the United States and 17 were first-time exhibitors at a Filtration show.

“Attendees at Filtration 2010 were able to see and touch the latest developments in raw materials, machinery and finished products from both established and new companies from everywhere filtration products are made and used,” says Rory Holmes, President of INDA, Association of the Non woven Fabrics Industry, organizer of the annual event. “The future of the filtration industry was certainly on display at Filtration 2010.”

In addition to the Exposition, the well-attended three-day Filtration 2010 Conference focused on a number of vital topics to the business of filtration in 2010 and beyond. “The Conference
this year highlighted such vital topics as energy efficiency, sustainability and the environment, in addition to the latest product technology,” says INDA’s Technical Director, Steve Ogle. “It was the best place in the world this year for filtration executives to learn about the technical developments that will continue to drive this business in the 21st Century.”

Brother International launches new series of embroidery machines

Brother International (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd intends to sell 100 units of each of its two new series of embroidery machines, PR-650 and PR-1000, and the embroidery software, PE-Design Next, each year.

Yoshiaki Otsuka, Director of the company, while speaking to the press at the launch of the machines, said that they are very much sure that the Malaysian market would positively welcome the two new series of machines.

Both the series of machines, he said, are so designed that it can arrange text, alter the size of designs, rotate patterns in one-degree increments and can also merge designs and insert letters. Over and above this, the size of these new machines have also been compressed which makes it a perfect choice for the home-based entrepreneurs who don’t have much space for production work, he stated.

The price range of these machines starts from RM 36,999 onwards and can be brought from the company’s authorized dealers. The machines have one year warranty.

The official also revealed that, the firm aims to boost its presence in the Malaysian market by 2011.

The launch of these new machines is reflective of the firm’s intention of further paving into the Malaysian textile and apparel industry, he said.

EURATEX and CEMATEX announce R & D agreement

EURATEX – the European Apparel and Textile Confederation and CEMATEX – the European Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Brussels. The agreement foresees a stronger collaboration of the two European industry bodies in fields such as research, technological development and innovations as well as the promotion of a positive forward-looking image of both industries with European policy makers as well as the general public.

In the presence of representatives of the two sectors, the respective presidents of the two organisations, Dr. Peter Pfneisl, EURATEX and Mr. Steve Combes, CEMATEX highlighted in their speeches the growing importance of research and technological innovation for the European textile, clothing and machinery industries for maintaining a competitive advantage in the global competition, cited several examples of past joint actions between the two industries and outlined concrete plans for future activities.

Closing his speech, Dr. Pfneisl said “I would like to ensure our colleagues from CEMATEX that the European textile and clothing industry will not stop in its relentless efforts to innovate in its products and processes to always remain one step ahead of our global competition. These innovations are unthinkable without the right machines and equipment with the right functionalities and capacities, available at the right time. We don’t see anybody better placed to provide us with these innovation tools than our colleagues from the European textile machinery industry and we look forward to fill this collaboration agreement at European level with a wealth of mutually beneficial activities for many years to come.”

Mr. Combes confirmed CEMATEX’s strong believe in the benefits of cooperation stating that “We are keen to participate in Euratex initiatives such as the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing.

Rieter’s Changzhou plant to meet demands of further development

On December 9th, Rieter will host a ceremony to celebrate the start of construction of the second plant at Changzhou. This opens a new chapter of Rieter’s activities in China. More than 100 distinguished guests from local authorities, association leaders and customers will be invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.

Rieter will establish a new plant in Changzhou some four kilometers close to the existing one. The new plant construction aims to support the growing demand for textile machinery and provide Rieter Textile Systems with in-depth technology for Chinese customers, covering all major products: from blowroom to cards, drawframes and combers, as well as ring spinning machine and rotor spinning machines.

The new plant is planned to further expand facilities up to approx. 60 000 m2 within the next few years. The first phase, around 17 000 m2, will be constructed in 2011 and is expected to begin operation in the 4th quarter of 2011.

Latest technology will be adopted in the new construction, which will ensure the state-of-the-art production and quality for Rieter customers. In addition, extension of customer services is planned in the new area.

Upgrading of equipment at ATIRA will be taken care of – Jt Sec, MoT

The government plans to peg the non-plan expenditure grants, if not increase it and will be pegged at 2004-05 levels rather than reduce them by 10 percent per annum, which will help keep up the basic maintenance of machinery and equipments at institutions like ATIRA, informed Mr V Srinivas, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles

Mr Srinivas spoke exclusively to fibre2fashion on the sidelines of the road show on extension of ‘Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks’ (SITPs) organised by the Union Ministry of Textiles in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Mr Srinivas was replying to a query posed by fibre2fashion on modernizing equipments and machinery at Ahmedabad Textile Research Association (ATIRA), when on a guided tour of the testing facilities of the institution.

Secondly, he continued, “Under the non-plan capital grants, funding under TRS has been coming down, as the government plans to peg the non-plan expenditure grants, if not increase it and will be pegged at 2004-05 levels rather than reduce them by 10 percent per annum.

“This will help take care of the basic maintenance, up-gradation and modernization of machinery and equipments at institutions like ATIRA, which operates under the Ministry of Textiles and under the plan, more number of visage projects will be sanctioned”, he added by saying.

When asked about the integrated skill development programme, he said, “The integrated skill development programme for which Rs 2.29 billion has been sanctioned will help provide a kind of financial base for a greater skill build up”.
