Management succession at Uster Technologies Ltd

Management succession at Uster Technologies LtdRichard Furter, Head of Textile Technology and member of the Executive Committee of Uster Technologies Ltd, has expressed his desire to take retirement at the end of 2011. Thomas Nasiou has been appointed as his successor. He is currently working at Uster Technologies in the dual role of Product Manager and as Head of Marketing in China and will assume his new role on June 1, 2011.

Richard Furter (67) has expressed his desire to retire after 44 years of service in Uster Technologies Ltd and the former Zellweger Uster AG. CEO Geoffrey Scott commented: “We will be sorry to see Richard leave. He is a deeply respected member of the Uster team, both inside the company and within the industry. In his time with the Uster Group, he has held management positions in various areas of the company, including Marketing, Business Development and Research & Development as well as leading our Textile Technology team for the past 13 years.

Richard has made a significant contribution to the development of the Company over the years. He has been a valued colleague and provided great friendship, counsel and advice to me in my time with the company as well as supporting me through the two MBO’s and the successful completion of the IPO. Our Board of Directors and the whole management team thank him for his invaluable service and unwavering dedication to the company.” Richard Furter will be retained by the company on a consultancy basis.

MEGATECH 2011 with Knowledge Village – Pavilion

9th Edition of the International Machinery Exhibition of Garment & Textile TechnologyMEGATECH Pakistan 2011, is scheduled from 3-5 March, 2011 at the Expo Centre Lahore, which is known as the heart of textile hub.

The show will be held with the support of Ministry of Textiles and major trade associations related to the industry. Last edition showcased machinery and technology of more than 300 companies represented by 29 countries and was attended by more than 9,000 business professionals affiliated with the textile and garment industry.

A high profile 4th International Technical Textiles Conference is being held in partnership with Textile Institute of Pakistan on 4th and 5th of March, 2011. The Conference is receiving an overwhelming response and will feature a unique portfolio of leading textile industry players as well as research institutions and academia professors.

These eminent speakers will disseminate new knowledge about innovative use of Technical Textiles in various applications; particularly the materials that can provide easy to deploy emergency shelters, clothing, construction, safety/protection, medical, filtration, transport and agriculture.

MEGATECH 2011 will also organise a ‘Knowledge Village – Pavilion’ for leading local textile research and development universities/institutes to display their research projects.

750 exhibitors to partake at India ITME expo

In a spectacular event on 17th December 2010 at Taj Palace, Mumbai, India ITME Society announced the 9th International Textile Machinery Exhibition, the largest textile machinery exhibition in India. The India ITME Society also signed an MOU with Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Co. Ltd. to construct a World Class Exhibition cum Convention Centre in India.

With 750 exhibitors, 100,000 visitors, 40 countries, INDIA ITME is the largest textile machinery exhibition in India.

The exhibition will be held from 2nd December 2012 to 7th December 2012 at Bombay Exhibition Centre Mumbai. Spread over 55,000 sq. mtrs., with expected participation of about 750 exhibitors and 100,000 business visitors from 40 countries are expected to participate in the exhibition. ITME society, sponsored by 5 major Indian textile and textile engineering associations, organises this mega event once in four years. It is most sought after event for textile Technology and machinery and is Gateway event to Indian market which is the 2nd largest in the world in this sector.

Mr. Kishore Biyani, MD, M/s. Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited; Chief Guest launched the exhibition in the presence of Consul Generals/officials from various countries.
